Acts 4:29-31 ESV
And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, 30 while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” 31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
In Acts 4, the church was being intimidated, threatened, and persecuted for converting others to Jesus Christ. The church responded with group prayer. The result? They were all filled with the Holy Spirit - leading to their continual and aggressive boldness in speaking the word of God and witnessing about the Gospel of Christ!
Can you recall a time you may have felt awkward, nervous, embarrassed, or ashamed to proclaim God’s word or be a witness of Christ?
If so, what does it tell you about the need for the Spirit to empower you to minister to unbelievers?
And, what does this passage tell you about the need for specific prayers for your continual boldness?
How frequently do you pray that God would heal or perform signs and wonders - using you and your church to do so? Remember, God’s power flows to fulfill His purpose!
