Psalm 90:12 NIV - Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
(See Resolutions, Part 1 for introduction)
“Being sensible that I am unable to do anything without God’s help, I do humbly entreat him by his grace to enable me to keep these resolutions, so far as they are agreeable to his will for Christ’s sake.”
Resolved: Never to do anything, which I would be afraid to do if I expected it would not be more than an hour before I would hear the last trumpet sound. (i.e. when Jesus returns.)
BEING A GODLY EXAMPLE TO OTHERS
Resolved: Never to do anything, which if I saw another do, I would consider a just reason to despise him for, or to think in any way lesser of him.
SELF-EXAMINATION & INTENTIONAL IMPROVEMENT
Resolved: To examine carefully, and constantly, what that one thing in me is that causes me to doubt of the love of God, even the least little bit; and then to direct all my forces against it.
PURE SUBMISSION TO GOD
Resolved: Never, from this day until the day I die, act as if I were in any way my own, but entirely and altogether belong to God, and then live in a way agreeable to this reality.
LIVING TO INTENTIONALLY AVOID REGRET
I frequently hear persons in old age say how they would live, if they were to live their lives over again, so… Resolved: That I will live just as I can imagine I shall wish I had done, supposing I live to old age.
Colossians 3:17 NIV - And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
