Psalm 119:161b NKJV - …My heart stands in awe of Your word.
AWE: An overwhelming feeling of reverential respect or admiration mixed with fear or wonder.
Ephesians 6:17 ESV - And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God…
Hebrews 4:12-13 ESV - For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
James 1:21-22 ESV - Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Psalm 119:9 NIV - How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.
In Matthew 4 when Jesus experienced His wilderness temptations from Satan, His successful resistance was done the same way each time. He simply appealed to the powerful truth of the Scriptures. How quickly do you refocus your attention away from temptations on to Biblical truth? How often have you thoughtfully studied Scripture only to see it “come alive” and be “active” in your mind and life circumstances? Who “planted” the word of God into your heart resulting in the salvation of your soul? Who are the last unchurched people you “planted” the word of God into - in an effort to save their souls? Does the word of God have a powerful and prominent daily role in your life? If not, why not?
1 Thessalonians 2:13 ESV - And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
